Studio44 Football Team - September Match Reports
To set the scene, the boys @larrytech have decided to build upon the company’s success of making beautiful, responsive websites in the weekdays - by joining a 6-a-side Sunday league down at the lovely Hawkenbury Recreation Ground. This post kicks off the first of many updates on the trials and tribulations of the larrytech football team!
Week 1:
I think we’d be hard pressed to have a game like this again in terms of entertainment. To cut a long story short, an altercation between the referee and an opposition player led to the match being abandoned… Luckily, we had our resident legal man - Paul 'dosie' Dosjanah – right on the case, and after a brief telephone conversation the matter was swiftly resolved. Let’s hope next week we have some actual football to report on!
End Result: Match Abandoned (larrytech win by default) – we’ll take that!
Week 2:
Now we didn't get off to the greatest starts- being a man down after our talented web developers - George Robinson - slipped over in a similar dramatic fashion to Steven Gerrard towards the end of last Premier League 13/14 season, except on his back, and in the local nightclub- so not really like Gerrard but ey you get the picture. Unfortunately George is unavailable for comment on this matter as he is off to London to start his masters!
To make matters worse, Alex ‘coley’ Cole happened to be nursing an injury so started off in goal and went on to make a cameo outfield appearance in the latter stages of the game. It’s fair to say we aren’t at the pinnacle of match fitness as a team, but then again who ever is?!
We were facing our arch rivals - Centurion Warranties - who are our neighbours at the Calverley House Office. Fortunately, it wasn't going to get as heated as the previous weeks affairs…
Starting Line-Up:
-------------Alex------------
---Doug----Jack----Sam---
------------Nanda-----------
Notable Match Events:
- Jack goal, Nanda assist
- Nanda goal, Jack assist
- Sam's save in the dying moments of the match
- 5 other goals by the other team…
End result: 5-2 larrytech loss :(
Final Comments:
We all agreed that we would have comfortably seen them off them if we had the same amount of players… only time will tell if we are deluded in our confidence of the teams ability!
Week 3:
Our latest game saw the first (of many) larrytech wins! It was a slightly different looking line-up due to a few absences, with Nanda’s friend John coming along to help fill out the numbers and also marks the return of our Creative Director James - who spent the previous week sunning himself in ‘meh-hico’!
Starting Line-Up:
-------------Alex------------
--------Jack-------John-----
---Doug---Nanda---James---
Super Sub: Sam
Notable Match Events:
- Nanda’s cool finish to make it 1-0
- Opposing team penalty levelling the score to 1-1
- Doug’s half way line screamer to help push our noses in front; carrying on with the Steven Gerrard theme, shouting ‘Gerrarrrrrrrrrrrrd!!!’ before unleashing the shot.
End result: 2-1 larrytech win!
Final Comments:
Great result, our first 'proper' win. Stay tuned - we'll have a few pictures to follow next week!
