More than £4,000 has been raised in aid of ellenor, Kent’s only charity offering hospice at home care to children, at the fourth Studio44 Charity Golf Day.

We held our fourth annual charity golf day on Wednesday 3rd July at The Nevill Golf Club in aid of the ellenor charity. ellenor support seriously ill children and their families. If you want to read and see the great work ellenor do, then please head over to their website for more detail.

The day was a huge success, with 20 teams and 78 golfers enjoying the sunshine at our biggest event to date – beating last year by 1 player! We had fantastic support from local businesses who contributed to the day by playing and donating prizes for the raffle and auction. Head over to our Facebook page to see the full list of businesses who supported us on the day.

Like in previous years, golfers started appearing just before midday for the 1.30 shotgun start, with a particular highlight this year being Larry as honorary starter. Considering he has only ever hit golf balls once in his life, we were all quite impressed he managed to hit the ball!

As ever, there were some excellent golfers playing, including a former scratch handicapper and some who play less regularly. We even had a team of our own this year, with Francois, Alex and Nanda teaming up… fortunately they were very gracious and realised that we couldn’t have our own team winning the day so kept their score comfortably in the middle of the field.

As has become tradition at our golf day, the drinks buggy was out in full force and most golfers enjoyed a cold drink or two on a warm afternoon! Photographer Matt Harquail once again supported the day by taking photos, and a selection of these are up on our Facebook page.

After a round of golf, as there inevitably always seems to be, there was a lot to talk about! Golfers recounted stories of their round, the putts they made that saved the score, and those they missed which destroyed them! Purple Pumpkin, our catering company then delivered as they always do with a fabulous 2 course dinner.

Winners were then announced, with the Town & Country Casuals led by Kevin Bishop coming in third, Fox Print led by MD Kevin Stanton coming in second with a score of 55.7, and The Nevill Nobs and non-playing captain Chris Bennett winning with a score of 55.6

Once prize winners had been announced, Charlotte from ellenor drew raffle prizes, with one winner kindly donating the raffle prize for a set of eyelashes back into the auction! Charlotte then gave more of an overview on ellenor and the work they do, which reminded us all what a great cause we were all raising money for.

Finally, Larry conducted the auction – it was only his second auction and despite his nerves, the auction ran seamlessly, with all auction winners seemingly very happy with what they won and the money raised helping contribute greatly towards the money raised on the day.

We’re so pleased with the end result of the day, all golfers really enjoyed their game, and we managed to raise funds and awareness for a fantastic charity. Thank you again to all who played, and everyone who donated a prize, we couldn’t have run the day without you, head over to our Facebook page where you can view and comment on all the photos!
