SEO and how we use it
A basic description is that it’s the process of improving the visibility of a website in search engines to help achieve your Digital Marketing goals, whether your goal is more traffic, more brand recognition or more sales! I won’t bore you with the complex words or the long winded process of how it takes place. You just need to be aware that the on page optimisation carefully selects relevant keywords designed to make the page more prominent for the search engines. The off page Optimisation predominately, refers to what is known as “backlinks” which are links pointing to the site which is being optimised, from other relevant, high quality websites. That’s broadly how it’s completed, but now to the important question of is it useful?
In my previous post on blogs I stated a passionate dislike for automated SEO software. However, in this context SEO is very important! Imagine this, having the world’s best website, with great content and a great product or service but nobody that views your website. This is where SEO comes into play. SEO is a good way of marketing a website, it helps boost rankings and drive relevant traffic that will be more likely to convert.
SEO also interrelates to content. You have content related to the keyword phrases that your audience uses to search for the products and services you are marketing. The greatest content needs to be promoted and amplified in order to maximize its optimal reach, connect with an audience and provide any real marketing return on investment. So the main objective is to focus on a strategy that interrelates all your marketing efforts including content, SEO and of course Social Media, which is my next talking point.
Social media is a way to communicate with your target audience, revolving around content. The SEO industry is always evolving and a recent development has shown that the impact of link building has resulted in the increasing importance of social media. Links remain an important factor in determining where a site or page shows up in the search engine. Therefore, if something is shared socially, it may also hold some value on the significance of ranking. In short experts believe that there is a correlation between social signals and ranking. Social Media can also be an excellent outreach tool for showing the human side of who you are.
To summarise, today and almost definitely in the future, great content cemented with a solid SEO strategy are vital aspects of gaining visibility for your website. Your competitors are doing it… almost everybody is doing it. So what do you do differently? You create high value content that will keep people coming back for more. Make sure you are taking social media just as seriously as that will help bolster your website traffic.
