Responsive Website Design

The internet world is changing quickly, but we would say that responsive web design is probably the most important development in recent years.  This is the process of designing a website that ‘responds to' or re-sizes itself according to the size of the device used to view it, so as to provide an optimal viewing experience, for easy reading and navigation with minimal resizing, panning and scrolling. This is mainly to ensure the website performs well across all mobile devices, including smart phones and tablets, as there is already a significant amount of internet traffic coming from mobile devices, a figure that is only expected to rise. As a result of this shift many organisations are focussing too heavily on mobiles, but the real challenge is to offer compelling experiences on all devices.

We believe that internet access will increasingly be gained through a myriad of devices with varying capabilities and responsive web design is the best way of addressing the parade of devices on the market now as well those that are yet to be imagined!  Ignoring the importance of responsive web design might mean creating a site that only some of your visitors can view optimally; the idea is to have one site that displays effectively no matter what device your visitor might be using to view it.

You don’t necessarily need a complete site rebuild to achieve a fully responsive site as in some instances you can apply responsive design to your existing site and optimise it for multiple devices.  Is your website fully responsive or are losing potential customers because it isn’t?
