6 principles to get people talking about your business
Its 2015, silly statement but if you want your message to be heard and spread you need to be different from the masses spamming you with boring content that nobody is really keen on. Ask yourself, what can you do differently? Of, course with this we have a huge risk stake, but that is like everything in business. If it means a slight chance of becoming judged or criticised to cut through the noise of the marketplace then that is the risk you take.
“Virality isn’t luck. It’s not magic. And it’s not random. There’s a science behind why people talk and share. A recipe. A formula, even.” These six principles breaks it down nicely:
Social Currency
As I have already addressed, people care about what they share. So make sure what you are writing is clever and gives people a reason to share make it creative make it shareable.
Triggers
This method is used to manipulate perspective customers into constantly being reminded or exposed to your product, this will make them more inclined to talk about it. A trigger is a stimuli that will prompt people to think about related subjects or objects.
Emotion
“We share when we care”. Customers who are loyal to companies are emotionally connected to that company. Interestingly, we are more likely to share subjects that result in evoking high levels of arousal, such as anger or excitement.
Public
This all boils down to knowing your target audience. Nowadays people will imitate one another. If a company discovers a gap in the market with a new inventive product the likelihood is it will catch on. Through this situation, people are influenced by others actions. If something is built to show, then it is built to grow i.e. the product advertises itself.
Practical Value
Like any product, how it is marketed will determine how successful it is. You need to ensure that it’s highlighting the value of your product. This could potentially be a unique selling point, or the fact it is saving you money or time compared to competitive products. Nowadays, through social media we share new resources that can be solutions for others. To get people talking about your business the sharing aspect is crucial.
Stories
The storytelling aspect of promoting your business is important! By presenting it as a story, about your business through your products, services and your USP this will make it worth spreading
Think of it like this, if the positive word of mouth is spreading like wild fire then you don’t need to focus as much on advertising and SEO positioning.
